Darch is situated within the City of Wanneroo, less than thirty minutes from Perth.

Previously part of Landsdale, it was largely rural until the late 1990s, when it opened up to residential development. Population in 2011 was 6118; by 2016 it had grown rapidly, at a rate of 15.3%, to 7051. Hepburn Avenue is the southern boundary of Darch, giving it easy access to Alexander Drive, Mirrabooka Avenue, Wanneroo Road and Mitchell Freeway. Median prices for both land and homes tend higher than the Perth metro region average, with the median sale price $590,000.

The majority of people in Darch live in single homes (84.7%), almost all of which are owner-occupier (83.3%). Households are primarily couples with children (68%), with 35.3% of the population being 18 or younger. Darch householders earn a median weekly income of $2124 and are likely to be repaying $1800 – $2399 per month on mortgage repayments. Generally, people in Darch are likely to work in a professional occupation.

Darch is a relatively small suburb, and shares many amenities with neighbouring Kingsway, including Kingsway City Shopping Centre, Kingsway Bar and Bistro, and Kingsway Football Club, with its extensive  playing fields and indoor stadium. There is a good choice of public and private schools and early learning centres nearby, including Kingsway Christian College; Ashdale, Carnaby Rise and Madely primary schools; Ashdale Secondary College and Landsdale Christian School. It’s also only fifteen minutes to  ECU Joondalup. Darch is service by a local bus route that connects to Greenwood and Whitfords train stations.
